HCPS is introducing “tap and go” technology to speed up and simplify daily tasks. Students will use new student ID badges to access the bus, library, cafeteria, and some technology services. They will also need their student ID to attend football games.
This week, your student will receive an ID card*, case and safety lanyard with a breakaway clasp. Students are expected to have their student ID badges visible by wearing the HCPS-provided lanyard or clipping badges to their clothing or backpacks. We will collaborate with families to find alternatives for students with disabilities who may need additional accommodations for student ID use. All students will remove lanyard IDs for PE, sports practice/game participation, science labs and CTE courses when using machinery.
Students who forget their badges can still participate in activities and have access to services.
Ongoing non-compliance in wearing or carrying a Student ID will be addressed with parents/guardians on a case-by-case basis to discuss concerns and encourage routine use of the badge.

*Student IDs and an initial replacement card will be provided to families at no cost; subsequent replacement cards will cost $5 to cover the cost of materials.
